Technology

Puncture Due to their inherent construction, conventional fabrics such as cotton, leather, aramids, and nylons are unable to stop sharp needles from penetrating through the material. HexArmor® products, made with SuperFabric brand material, provide puncture protection by the tiny, hard guard plates that are adhered to conventional and non-conventional base fabrics. In industrial applications where there are key sharp punctures, the technology is able to stop punctures because we use very tough base fabrics and very hard guard plates.

Sharps Due to their inherent construction, conventional fabrics such as cotton, leather, aramids, and nylons are unable to stop sharp needles from penetrating through the material. HexArmor® products, made with SuperFabric® material, provide puncture protection by the tiny, hard guard plates that are adhered to conventional and non-conventional base fabrics. Because the gap between the guard plates is very small, and because we use multiple layers, it provides high levels of protection from sharp, pointed objects such as needles. As a sharp hazard enters the fabric, it is arrested by one or more layers of fabric as it strikes a guard plate.

Cut Resistance HexArmor® products use SuperFabric® brand technology, which provides protection against cuts and slashes like no other material in the world. Cut protection is provided by the tough, hard, guard plates that are adhered to conventional and non-conventional base fabrics. It is engineered to provide high levels of protection from very sharp objects such as knives, razor blades and glass. The cut resistance of HexArmor® products ranges from 4 lbs to more than 10 lbs, which translates to 2-8 times the cut resistance of Kevlar®*; and more than 5 times the cut resistance of medium-weight leather products.

Abrasion Resistance
HexArmor® can have 15x the abrasion resistance of heavy weight Kevlar. High levels of abrasion resistance are needed in a diverse range of products in order to meet the demands of both commercial and retail sectors. All too often expectations fall short when “tough”, abrasion resistant materials fray and destruct under real world conditions. Because HexArmor® uses SuperFabric® brand material, the unique design of the guard plates provide 'protective armor' which resists abrasion to underlying fabrics. Thickness of the protective guard plates as well as composition can be optimized to provide for higher levels of abrasion resistance.

Grip
HexArmor® can optimize grip on many surfaces; including wet, oily, or dry surfaces. Many applications demand high gripping power to provide functionality as well as safety. Varying surface compositions such as metal, corrugated, glass, wood, and plastics require fabrics that can present a range of gripping options. HexArmor® utilizes different types of a SuperFabric® brand materials for products with specific applications that increases gripping ability of our gloves. A special coated surface can be applied directly to the guard plates with high precision, while SuperFabric® brand material remains flexible unlike other continuous treatment processes. Wet, oily, slimy, greasy, and certain dry contact conditions present additional challenges. Standard and custom coating formulations can be applied in a highly precision manner, maintaining flexibility in addition to providing gripping power.
