Moisture Vapour Absorption

Wool manages all temperature extremes.

When wool is exposed to cool damp conditions (eg Winter), water molecules are attracted to sites in the internal structure (cortex) of the fibre.

When the air is saturated with water vapour, the wool fibre absorbs about 35% of its dry weight in moisture - without feeling wet.

Protection against the elements

Electrical attraction between water vapour molecules & the internal chemical structure of wool. This reaction enables wool to control a wearer’s micro-climate.

These chemical reactions enable wool to:

  • Process the vapour in the air around the wearer
  • Keep you warm when you are cold
  • Keep you cool when you are hot
  • Reduce odour
  • Provide a buffer which controls the micro-climate around the body
